There are thousands of mining equipment manufacturers in China. John Chadwick and
Daniel Gleeson have picked out some of those that are exporting significantly
China’s economy during the last quarter
century has changed from a centrally
planned system that was largely closed
to international trade to a more marketoriented
economy that has a rapidly growing
private sector and is a major player in the
global economy.
By 2008, restructuring of the economy and
resulting efficiency gains had contributed to a
more than tenfold increase in GDP since 1978.
By the end of 2007, more than 5,000 domestic
Chinese enterprises had established direct
investments in 172 countries and regions
around the world.
Anhui Fengxing Wear Resistant
Materials’ products include various grinding
balls, grinding units, wear- and heat-resistant
steel castings and auxiliary abrasives for use in

Anshan Heavy Duty Mining Machinery
is one of the largest vibrating screen
manufacturers in China. Anshan produces a
variety of equipment including crushers,
feeders, conveyors and various processing
equipment in addition to screens. Its products
are exported to more than 30 countries. It has

supplied drying equipment to a customer in
Kazakhstan and has sold products to JSW Steel

Beiben Truck is, according to the company,
one of the most popular heavy-duty truck
manufacturers in China.
Both its 6 x 4 and 8 x 4 dump trucks are
fitted with axle reduction hubs and high quality

developed from the drilling operations of the former China National
Non-ferrous Metals Industrial Corp. Sinodrill focuses on providing
diamond drilling services for mineral exploration and mining, including
diamond drilling, underground drilling, orientated core drilling, RC
drilling, geotechnical and hydrological drilling services.
BSD currently owns 35 drill rigs as shown in table 1 and can drill 30°
to 90° angled drill holes from surface and angled holes underground. Its
deepest hole was successfully completed to 1,250 m. A daily drilling

Changzhou Lianli Technology is a high-tech corporation embracing

but it will not remain so for long. It is already
the second largest manufacturer of wheel
loaders in the world, it claims, and has
aggressive ambitions. “Our wheel loaders

competitors, Liugong is very strong on
customer support and has already built an

amongst other places. Its CLG899II will be the
largest wheel loader made in China when it is
launched late next year. Its rated power will be
391 kW and its operating weight 48 t. It will
carry a 6.4 m3 bucket and a rated load of 10.4 t.
The six models smaller than this cover
bucket capacities from 0.78 to 4.5 m3 .
LiuGong equipment is easy to own and easy to
operate, as the company aims to excel in
providing features that customers demand, but
also with a focus on using only well-proven
technologies that are easy to service. The result
is highly durable machines that stand up to the
rigours of tough operating environments.

dozers, hydraulic excavators and graders.
In 1995, LiuGong partnered with the
German transmission components
manufacturer ZF Friedrichshafen AG,
purchasing 49% of the company. This allowed
LiuGong to better equip its products by
manufacturing transmissions and axles on site

North America in 2007 and now has its first
manufacturing plant in India.

Conveyors are one of the product lines
offered by Northern Heavy Shenyang
Mining Machinery Group. It says that the
long distance belt conveyor system it built for
Jincheng mines in Shenxi (belt width 1,400
mm, velocity 4 m/s and length 7,600 m) is the
longest in the country. The parameters of the
belt conveyor in the Yuanbaoshan open-pit
mine are the highest in China (capacity 7,800
t/h, velocity 5.85 m/s and power six by 560
kW). The unit power of the belt conveyor in #3
mine of Yangquan mine, Shenxi, is the largest
in the country – length 3,631 m, belt width
1,400 mm and power three by 1,000 kW.
