Preface<br />

We launched the Case Closed programme with the C&W literary agency to f<strong>in</strong>d <strong>and</strong> develop<br />

new crime, thriller <strong>and</strong> mystery fiction writers from diverse backgrounds.<br />

To help you get started writ<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> these genres, we commissioned the crime writer Fiona<br />

Cumm<strong>in</strong>s to write about her journey to be<strong>in</strong>g an author, def<strong>in</strong>itions of each of the genres with<br />

examples, exercises that will help you grow your ideas <strong>and</strong> further resources to develop your<br />

craft.<br />

This guide is paired with the first workshop <strong>in</strong> the programme, which will be run by Fiona<br />

Cumm<strong>in</strong>s on Thursday 25 May <strong>and</strong> is free to jo<strong>in</strong>. For more details, please visit the Spread the<br />
