number of records in thous<strong>and</strong>s rounded to the nearest 1000. If the number is<br />

greater than 999499, the number is shown as nnnM, where M represents the<br />

number of lines in millions rounded to the nearest million.<br />

v There are five copies remaining for output.<br />

v The sequence for the file on the printer is 001.<br />

The parts of the first line of the response for impact printers <strong>and</strong> 3800 printers can<br />

also be:<br />

Category Possible Values Meaning<br />

Status STARTED Device is available for spooling activity.<br />

DRAINING Device is processing a file, but will be drained after<br />

the file has printed.<br />

DRAINED Device is not available for spooling activity. Issue<br />

the <strong>CP</strong> START comm<strong>and</strong> to activate the device.<br />

INT REQ Device is not available; it needs manual<br />

intervention before it can continue to process spool<br />

files.<br />

SETUP REQ Printer is ready to print an alignment page so that<br />

the operator can align the forms properly on an<br />

impact printer. The operator must press the STOP<br />

<strong>and</strong> START buttons to print another alignment<br />

page, or enter the START comm<strong>and</strong> to begin<br />

printing the entire file.<br />

MOUNT REQ Printer is waiting for the operator to mount a new<br />

form.<br />

User ID SYSTEM Device processes files for any user ID.<br />

userid Device processes files only for the specified user<br />

ID.<br />

Spool file class CLASS cl Device services spool files of the specified classes,<br />

in the specified order. An output device can service<br />

as many as 8 output classes.<br />

Security Label seclabel Printer will print only those spool files with the<br />

specified security label (SEC). The ESM-authorized<br />

operator uses the START comm<strong>and</strong> to change the<br />

security label for a printer.<br />

NONE Printer was not assigned a security label. No files<br />

can be printed until the printer is started with a<br />

valid security label. For more information, contact<br />

your security administrator.<br />

Note: NONE <strong>and</strong> seclabel only appear if an<br />

external security manager (ESM) is installed <strong>and</strong><br />

security label checking is enabled.<br />
