NIC
Operands
Examples
ALL
vdev
DETails
Privilege Class: G
Use QUERY NIC to display information about a simulated Network Interface Card
(NIC) in your virtual machine configuration. The response for each network adapter
includes:
v Adapter configuration (base device address, number of devices)
v Adapter type for example, HIPER for HiperSockets
v Status of each associated virtual device for example, DETAILS option
ALL
indicates a request for “all” simulated Network Interface Cards (NIC) in the
invoker’s virtual machine configuration.
vdev
specifies the virtual device number (hex) of the adapter to be examined. You
may specify the virtual device number of any virtual device that is attached to
the adapter. However, CP responses will refer to each virtual adapter by its
base device address; this is the first device in the range.
DETails
indicates a request for full details about the selected adapters. The response
includes the following information for each adapter:
v the role (CTL-READ, CTL-WRITE, or DATA) assigned to this device
v the IP Addresses registered to this device
1. QUERY NIC:
Display a list of simulated Network Interface Cards belonging to this virtual
machine:
cp query nic
Adapter 0500 Type: QDIO Name: TEST Devices: 8
Port 0 MAC: 02-00-00-00-00-02 LAN: SYSTEM INEWS
Adapter FD00 Type: HIPERS Name: UNASSIGNED Devices: 8
Port 0 MAC: 02-00-00-00-00-03 LAN: * Internal MFS: 16384
This response describes a QDIO adapter at 0500 which is connected to a VM
LAN, and a HiperSockets adapter at FD00 which is using its internal LAN
(indicated by LAN “* Internal”). The adapter name “UNASSIGNED” means your
software has not yet assigned a name to this interface.
2. QUERY NIC DETails:
Display detailed information about a simulated Network Interface Card:
