QUERY FCP
Usage Notes
Responses
1. There is a Linux Access Control Table that is used to control FCP LUN access.
VM userids are entered in this table with corresponding LUNs. For details, refer
to Linux documentation.
If the system is using an FCP device that is in an intervention-required state and
you enter QUERY FCP, you see a response like this:
A FCP 0300 intervention required.
0300 is the real device number of the FCP device that needs the operator’s
intervention.
Note: This response will be preceded by one of the following.
Response 1:
If you enter QUERY FCP, QUERY FCP ACTIVE, or QUERY FCP ATTACHED and
there is an FCP device attached to the system, you see something like this:
q fcp active
FCP 0480 ATTACHED TO LINUX1 0480 CHPID 80
FCP 0481 ATTACHED TO LINUX2 0481 CHPID 80 USERACCESSID = userid
FCP 0482 ATTACHED TO LINUX2 0482 CHPID 80
FCP 0700 ATTACHED TO TEST1 0500 CHPID F1
FCP 0701 ATTACHED TO TEST2 0500 CHPID F1
Ready;
The first number is the real device number of the FCP device. The ATTACHED
operand might also read BOX/ATTC, which means that although the device is
attached and dedicated to a user, it is unavailable. LINUX1, LINUX2, TEST1, and
TEST2 are user IDs to which the FCP devices are dedicated. The number following
the user IDs is the virtual device number which each virtual machine uses to refer
to an FCP device. The number following the CHPID is the real CHPID (channel
path ID) associated with the device.
If the FCP subchannel being displayed was attached using the Attach
USERACCESSID option, the USERACCESSID will be displayed as part of the
response.
Response 2:
If you enter a QUERY FCP FREE command and there is a free FCP device
attached to the system, you see something like this:
q fcp free
FCP 0487 FREE , FCP 04A1 FREE , FCP 04A2 FREE , FCP 04A3 FREE
FCP 04A4 FREE , FCP 04A5 FREE , FCP 04A9 FREE , FCP 04AA FREE
FCP 04AB FREE , FCP 04BC FREE , FCP 04BD FREE , FCP 04BE FREE
FCP 04BF FREE
Ready;
This response shows the real device number for each free FCP device.
The response for a QUERY FCP OFFLINE or QUERY FCP BOXED command is in
the same format as the response for a QUERY FCP FREE command.
Response 3:
796 z/VM: CP Commands and Utilities Reference
