Use QUERY <strong>CP</strong>UID to display the doubleword processor identifier used by your<br />

virtual machine.<br />

1. This comm<strong>and</strong> returns the <strong>CP</strong>UID of the issuing user’s VIRTUAL processor. The<br />

virtual <strong>CP</strong>UID defaults to the real configuration master processor <strong>CP</strong>UID unless<br />

the user has issued SET <strong>CP</strong>UID or is using the directory OPTIONS or <strong>CP</strong>U<br />

statements to alter the virtual <strong>CP</strong>UID.<br />

2. To obtain the <strong>CP</strong>UID of non-base processors in a virtual configuration, use the<br />

<strong>CP</strong>U comm<strong>and</strong> to direct the Q <strong>CP</strong>UID to each non-base processor.<br />

Response 1:<br />

<strong>CP</strong>UID= aassssssccccdddd<br />

aa identifies the version code. These two digits are set to X'FF' to identify that your<br />

virtual machine is running under z/<strong>VM</strong>.<br />

ssssss<br />

identifies the processor. This field contains six hexadecimal digits. This is the<br />

only part of the <strong>CP</strong>UID that can be modified by means of the SET <strong>CP</strong>UID<br />

comm<strong>and</strong> or set by the system directory’s OPTION control statement.<br />

cccc<br />

identifies the model number. This field is set to the model number of the real<br />

machine.<br />

dddd<br />

identifies the machine check extended logout length. For most processors, this<br />

field is set to X'0000'. For the z990 processor, this field is set to X'8000'.<br />
