Category Possible Values Meaning<br />

Status STARTED Device is available for spooling activity.<br />

DRAINING Device is processing a file, but will be drained<br />

when the file is finished.<br />

DRAINED Device is not available for spooling activity. Issue<br />

the <strong>CP</strong> START comm<strong>and</strong> to activate the device.<br />

INT REQ Device is not available; it needs manual<br />

intervention before it can continue to process spool<br />

files.<br />

SETUP REQ Punch is ready to generate an alignment page to<br />

let the operator align the forms properly on an<br />

impact printer. The operator must press the STOP<br />

<strong>and</strong> START buttons to print another alignment<br />

page, or enter the START comm<strong>and</strong> to begin<br />

printing the entire file.<br />

MOUNT REQ Punch is waiting for the operator to mount a new<br />

form.<br />

User ID SYSTEM Device processes files for any user ID.<br />

userid Device processes files only for the specified user<br />

ID.<br />

Spool file class CLASS cl Device services spool files of the specified classes,<br />

in the specified order. An output device can service<br />

as many as 8 output classes.<br />

The options for the second line of the response can be:<br />

Category Possible Values Meaning<br />

Form FORM form Device services the specified 1- to 8-character<br />

operator form number.<br />

Scheduling MANUAL Operator schedules forms output. Only spool files<br />

with the form currently active on the device are<br />

processed. When the last spool file with the current<br />

form is punched, the punch stops.<br />

AUTO Operator wants <strong>CP</strong> to schedule forms output. The<br />

form that is currently active is processed first. After<br />

punching all files with the current form, <strong>CP</strong> selects<br />

a new form for the device.<br />

File separator SEP File separator prints between output files.<br />

NOSEP File separator does not print between output files.<br />

Length limit LIMIT NONE <strong>CP</strong> selects files for punching regardless of the<br />

number of records.<br />

LIMIT nnnnnnnnnn <strong>CP</strong> only selects spool files for punching that are<br />

less than or equal to the specified number of<br />

records. The spool file record number is the<br />

number of copies multiplied by the size of the file.
