Use QUERY ALL to display the status of real storage <strong>and</strong> all the real devices<br />

attached to the system.<br />

ACTive<br />

indicates all active devices. An active device is one that is in use by a user or<br />

the system <strong>and</strong> is specified as neither FREE nor OFFLINE.<br />

ALL<br />

indicates all devices attached to the system. The status is displayed in the order<br />

of ACTIVE, FREE, <strong>and</strong> OFFLINE. You receive the same response as you would<br />

receive if you entered all of the following comm<strong>and</strong>s:<br />

query all active<br />

query all free<br />

query all offline<br />

QUERY ALL<br />

ATTach userid<br />

indicates the devices that are dedicated to a user on the system. If you specify<br />

userid, only devices attached to that user’s virtual machine are indicated. If you<br />

do not specify userid, you receive the status of all devices dedicated to any<br />

user on the system. Attached devices are always active.<br />

BOXed<br />

indicates the devices that are unavailable (usually because of a hardware<br />

condition). A boxed device may also be active, free, or offline.<br />

FREe<br />

indicates all free devices. A free device is one that is not currently in use by a<br />

user or the system <strong>and</strong> is specified as neither ACTIVE nor OFFLINE.<br />

OFFline<br />

indicates all offline devices. An offline device is specified as neither ACTIVE nor<br />

FREE. The offline response will also show offline devices which are quiesced.<br />

QUIesced<br />

indicated all quiesced DASD. A quiesced device is an offline device which<br />

cannot be varied online until a resume request is received for the device.<br />
