Use PURGE IMG to remove system data files containing image libraries.<br />

ALL<br />

lets you purge all image library files.<br />

spoolid<br />

identifies the number used to identify the file or files to be purged.<br />

NAME fn<br />

identifies the file name of the file or files to be purged.<br />

1. SET IMSG OFF suppresses informational messages for this comm<strong>and</strong>.<br />

2. Any combination of spoolid <strong>and</strong> NAME may be specified on the PURGE IMG<br />

comm<strong>and</strong> line. For example, purge img 1234 name imag3800 3421 purges IMG<br />

files 1234 <strong>and</strong> 3421, <strong>and</strong> any IMG files with the file name IMAG3800.<br />

3. In response to the PURGE comm<strong>and</strong>, <strong>CP</strong> purges the designated files unless<br />

the files are currently in use. If a file is currently in use, <strong>CP</strong> places it in a<br />

pending purge state (class P) <strong>and</strong> purges it as soon as it is no longer being<br />

used or the system is shut down or re-IPLed.<br />

4. To determine if a file is in a pending purge state, enter the QUERY IMG<br />

comm<strong>and</strong>. If the file is in a pending purge state, <strong>CP</strong>’s response shows that the<br />

file is Class P.<br />

Response 1:<br />

{nnnn} FILE(S) PURGED<br />

{ NO}<br />

displays the count of files purged.<br />

nnnn<br />

indicates the number of files purged.<br />

{nnnn} FILE(S) PENDING PURGE<br />
