Purpose<br />

Oper<strong>and</strong>s<br />

MODIFY CU / CNTLUNIT<br />

Use MODIFY CU or CNTLUNIT to change the definition of an existing control unit in<br />

the I/O configuration.<br />

nnnn<br />

is the number of the control unit that you are changing. The variable nnnn must<br />

be a 1- to 4-digit hexadecimal number between X'0000' <strong>and</strong> X'FFFE'.<br />

CSS nn<br />

is the channel-subsystem image in which the control unit is to be modified. The<br />

variable nn must be a 1- to 2-digit hexadecimal number between X'00' <strong>and</strong><br />

X'0F'.<br />

Note: This parameter <strong>and</strong> other parameters that identify different<br />

channel-subsystem IDs require that the logical channel-subsystem facility<br />

be installed.<br />

ADD<br />

tells <strong>CP</strong> that you want to add one or more channel paths or unit addresses to<br />

this control unit.<br />

DELete<br />

tells <strong>CP</strong> that you want to delete one or more existing channel paths or unit<br />

addresses from this control unit.<br />

Note: You cannot use the DELETE oper<strong>and</strong> to delete all of the existing<br />

channel paths or unit addresses from this control unit. To delete all of the<br />

existing channel paths, use the DELETE CHPID or PATH comm<strong>and</strong>.<br />

(See page 218.) To delete all of the existing unit addresses, use the<br />

DELETE CU or CNTLUNIT comm<strong>and</strong>. (See page 221.)<br />

ADD_CSS_access<br />

tells <strong>CP</strong> that you want to add the control unit to the specified<br />

channel-subsystem image. See Usage Note 1.<br />

DELETE_CSS_access<br />

tells <strong>CP</strong> that you want to delete the control unit from the specified the<br />

channel-subsystem image. See Usage Note 2.<br />

MANaged_paths n<br />

tells <strong>CP</strong> that you want to modify the maximum number of managed channnel<br />

paths which can be attached to the specified control unit or, for an<br />

ADD_CSS_access request, is the maximum number of managed channel paths<br />

in the specified channel-subsystem image that can be attached to the specified<br />

control unit. The variable n must be a 1-digit decimal number from 0 to 7.<br />

Note: The number of MANaged_paths plus the number of static paths attached<br />

to the specified control unit cannot exceed 8.<br />

CHPID nn<br />

PATH nn<br />

tells <strong>CP</strong> which channel paths you want to add to or delete from this control unit<br />

or, for an ADD_CSS_access request, identifies the channel paths in the<br />

specified channel-subsystem image associated with this control unit. You can<br />

specify up to 8 channel path IDs. The variable nn must be a 1- to 2-digit<br />

hexadecimal number between X'00' <strong>and</strong> X'FF'.<br />
