Use MESSAGE ALL or MSG ALL to transmit message text to all active users <strong>and</strong><br />

disconnected users.<br />

ALLDBCS<br />

transmits the message to all users logged on to DBCS (double-byte character<br />

set) terminals.<br />

ALLSBCS<br />

transmits the message to all users <strong>and</strong> all disconnected users logged on to<br />

SBCS (single-byte character set) terminals.<br />

AT *<br />

transmits the message to the system you are logged onto. This is the default.<br />

AT ALL<br />

transmits the message to every system which is in a CSE complex. The lowest<br />

return code is returned to the comm<strong>and</strong> issuer.<br />

AT sysname<br />

transmits the message to a specific system, sysname, in a CSE complex. The<br />

return code is returned to the comm<strong>and</strong> issuer.<br />

msgtext<br />

identifies the text of the message you are sending. The length of the message<br />

is limited by the number of characters remaining on the input line after the<br />

comm<strong>and</strong> <strong>and</strong> appropriate oper<strong>and</strong> are entered. You must include at least one<br />

blank between the ALL oper<strong>and</strong> <strong>and</strong> the message text. DBCS text is supported<br />

as message text.<br />

1. The total number of logged-on users significantly affects comm<strong>and</strong> processing.<br />

The comm<strong>and</strong> may take a long time to process <strong>and</strong> may tie up user terminals.<br />

hh:mm:ss * MSG FROM userid : msgtext<br />

MESSAGE ALL<br />

hh:mm:ss<br />

identifies the time the message was sent to the user, in hours, minutes, <strong>and</strong><br />

seconds.<br />
