LOGON authorization checking for the user ID. The BYUSER must be listed on<br />

a LOGONBY statement in the directory entry for the user ID to use the BY<br />

oper<strong>and</strong>. Refer to usage note 14 on page 582 for information on External<br />

Security Manager (ESM) considerations.<br />

Ipl vdev<br />

Ipl sysname<br />

specifies the virtual device number or named saved system that you want IPLed<br />

upon completion of your logon processing. This option overrides the IPL<br />

statement (if any) specified in your entry in the system directory. The validity of<br />

the IPL oper<strong>and</strong> you specify is determined by the IPL comm<strong>and</strong> processor after<br />

your logon is completed; it is not verified as part of the LOGON comm<strong>and</strong><br />

processing.<br />

NOipl<br />

specifies that the IPL device specified in your entry in the system directory<br />

should not be used for an automatic IPL.<br />

LOGON<br />

MACHine ESA<br />

MACHine XA<br />

MACHine XC<br />

specifies the mode (architecture) of the virtual machine. This option overrides<br />

the MACHINE statement (if any) specified in your entry in the system directory.<br />

For further information on the MACHINE directory control statement, see z/<strong>VM</strong>:<br />

<strong>CP</strong> Planning <strong>and</strong> Administration.<br />

ESA designates ESA/390 (31-bit) architecture. A guest operating system may<br />

have the capability to issue an instruction to switch an ESA virtual machine to<br />

z/Architecture (64-bit) mode. XA is supported for compatibility <strong>and</strong> is functionally<br />

equivalent to ESA. XC designates ESA/XC architecture.<br />

NORUN<br />

specifies that upon successful completion of the user logon, the virtual machine<br />

is placed in a terminal <strong>CP</strong> READ state, <strong>and</strong> RUN is set OFF.<br />

QUIET<br />

suppresses the display of all informational LINK messages, system log<br />

messages, <strong>and</strong> information regarding spooled virtual reader, printer, <strong>and</strong> punch<br />

files.<br />

SEClabel ssssssss<br />

specifies that the user is requesting to logon with a specific security label,<br />

identified by ssssssss. ssssssss is specified as a 1-character to 8-character<br />

alphanumeric value. This oper<strong>and</strong> is valid only when an ESM is installed <strong>and</strong><br />

security label checking is enabled. For additional information, contact your<br />

security administrator.<br />

Storage nu<br />

specifies an alternate storage size to be assigned to your virtual machine. The<br />

storage size is specified in the form nu, where n is a decimal number <strong>and</strong> u is<br />

the unit of measure:<br />
