464 z/VM: CP Commands and Utilities Reference
RESume
tells CP to perform the Resume function.
rdev
rdev.numDevs
specifies a single real device (rdev) or a real device combined with a decimal
range count (numDevs). A single value (rdev), a series (rdev rdev), a range
(rdev.numDevs) or a combination of all can be entered. The device entered
must be a hexidecimal real device number between X'0000' and X'FFFF'.
VOLid volid
tells CP to use a volume serial identifier. The value for volid is a 1 to 6
character alphanumeric identifier. Only one volid can be entered.
ALL
specified on the Disable function to disable all real devices previously enabled
for automatic quiesce processing.
SWAP
tells CP to perform the SWAP function.
sourceRdev targetRdev
sourceRdev.numDevs targetRdev
specifies a single source real device (sourceRdev) and target real device
(targetRdev) pair or source real device combined with a decimal range count
(numDevs) and target real device range pair. A single source/target pair, a
series of source/target pairs (sourceRdev targetRdev sourceRdev targetRdev),
a range of source/target pairs (sourceRdev.numDevs targetRdev) or a
combination of all can be entered. The devices entered must be hexidecimal
real device numbers between X'0000' and X'FFFF'.
VOLid sourceVolid targetVolid
specifies a source volume serial identifier (sourceVolid) and target volume serial
identifier (targetVolid) pair. Only one source/target pair can be entered.
1. All real devices entered on the command must be DASD devices and either
3380, 3390, or 9336 DASD types.
2. The ENABLE function requires an Escon or Ficon attached ECKD 3990
controller in support of 'PPRC' failover processing.
3. The QUIESCE function requires the devices entered be in an online state.
4. The SWAP function requires the state of the devices being swapped be either
quiesced, offline or online, and free. An attempt will be made to VARY ON any
offline devices.
5. The SWAP function requires that the device pair be the same DASD type, have
matching subclass information, be free of any active I/O and the target device’s
size be at least as big as the source devices.
6. When the SWAP function completes successfully for a device pair the source
and target devices are left in a quiesce state.
7. The RESUME function will only complete successfully on devices that are
quiesced.
8. Error messages will be issued for individual devices and device pairs for which
the command processing fails, but the command processing continues for those
devices that don’t fail.
