Use FREE PRINTER/PUNCH to release user spool files from system hold.<br />

userid<br />

identifies the user whose spool files are to be released. The user need not be<br />

logged on.<br />

ALL<br />

specifies that all print/punch files are to be freed. This is the default.<br />

Printer<br />

PRT<br />

specifies that print files are to be freed.<br />

PUnch<br />

PCH<br />

specifies that punch files are to be freed.<br />

1. Use FREE PRT/PUN in conjunction with HOLD PRT/PUN.<br />

2. After you enter the FREE comm<strong>and</strong>, all new files are put into nohold status.<br />

3. A spool file can be freed from either or both of two types of hold status:<br />

v User<br />

v System.<br />

All files in user hold status can be freed by the user who created the file or by a<br />

class D user.<br />

All files in system hold status can be freed by the class D user only; the<br />

comm<strong>and</strong>s used are FREE <strong>and</strong> CHANGE NOSYS.<br />

A spool file in both types of hold status must be freed from each one before the<br />

file can be processed.<br />
