Use DELETE EDEVICE to delete one or more emulated device definitions from the<br />

system.<br />

rdev<br />

rdev1-rdev2<br />

specifies the emulated devices that you want to delete. Each rdev must be a 1-<br />

to 4-digit hexadecimal number between X'0000' <strong>and</strong> X'FFFF'. You can specify a<br />

single device address or a range of device addresses.<br />

1. Before you can delete an emulated device you must vary offline the real device<br />

<strong>and</strong> subchannel associated with the emulated device. To VARY a device offline,<br />

use the VARY (Real Device) comm<strong>and</strong>. To VARY a subchannel offline, use the<br />

VARY SUBCHANNEL comm<strong>and</strong>.<br />

2. To display the status of one or more real devices, use the QUERY (Real<br />

Device) comm<strong>and</strong>.<br />

3. To display information about one or more emulated devices, use the QUERY<br />

EDEVICE comm<strong>and</strong>.<br />

4. To define an emulated device, use the:<br />

a. SET EDEVICE comm<strong>and</strong> with the proper device characteristics, <strong>and</strong> the<br />

b. VARY (Real Device) comm<strong>and</strong> to bring the device online.<br />

To delete an emulated device 300 from your system, enter the following:<br />

delete edevice 300<br />
