SCSI F<strong>CP</strong> Disk Support<br />

The <strong>CP</strong> comm<strong>and</strong>s DELETE EDEVICE, QUERY EDEVICE, <strong>and</strong> SET EDEVICE<br />

were added <strong>and</strong> the <strong>CP</strong>FMTXA utility was updated to support SCSI F<strong>CP</strong> disk<br />

logical units (SCSI disks) for both system <strong>and</strong> guest use.<br />

PCIX Cryptographic Coprocessor (PCIXCC)<br />

The <strong>CP</strong> comm<strong>and</strong>s QUERY CRYPTO <strong>and</strong> QUERY VIRTUAL CRYPTO were<br />

updated as part of the z/OS ®<br />

<strong>and</strong> Linux ®<br />

guest support for the PCIXCC feature<br />

available with the <strong>IBM</strong> z990 <strong>and</strong> z890<br />

Virtual Machine <strong>CP</strong> Time Bomb Support<br />

The <strong>CP</strong> comm<strong>and</strong>s QUERY SET, DEFINE <strong>CP</strong>U, <strong>and</strong> SET CONCEAL were updated<br />

to include support for the virtual machine <strong>CP</strong> Time Bomb support. There is one new<br />

comm<strong>and</strong>: SET TIMEBOMB. Message H<strong>CP</strong>6027E has been removed from SET<br />

CONCEAL <strong>and</strong> DEFINE <strong>CP</strong>U. The restriction that SET CONCEAL <strong>and</strong> DEFINE<br />

<strong>CP</strong>U are supported only for UP guests has been removed.<br />

ASN–<strong>and</strong>–LX–Reuse Facility Support<br />

The <strong>CP</strong> comm<strong>and</strong>s TRACE, DISPLAY LKS <strong>and</strong> <strong>CP</strong> DUMP LKS were changed as<br />

part of the z/<strong>VM</strong> support for guest use of the ASN-<strong>and</strong>-LX-Reuse Facility.<br />

Installation from DVD<br />

The <strong>CP</strong> utilities DVDPRIME <strong>and</strong> INSTDVD were added in support of installing z/<strong>VM</strong><br />

from the system DVD. The INST<strong>VM</strong> utility was enhanced to support loading<br />

components from the DVD.<br />

Removal of <strong>CP</strong> Functions<br />

z/<strong>VM</strong> V5R1 is designed to operate only on <strong>IBM</strong> zSeries ® , or equivalent servers that<br />

support <strong>IBM</strong> z/Architecture <br />

(64-bit). As a result, certain functions are not provided<br />

by z/<strong>VM</strong> V5R1:<br />

v IPL from a 31-bit image of the <strong>CP</strong> nucleus<br />

v Preferred (V=R <strong>and</strong> V=F) virtual machines<br />

v Paging of the <strong>CP</strong> nucleus<br />

The following <strong>CP</strong> comm<strong>and</strong>s have been removed:<br />

v QUERY IOASSIST<br />

v QUERY VRFREE<br />

v QUERY V=R<br />

v SET CCWTRAN<br />

v SET IOASSIST<br />

v SET NOTRANS<br />

Many other <strong>CP</strong> comm<strong>and</strong>s <strong>and</strong> utilities have been updated to remove or modify<br />

oper<strong>and</strong>s, responses, <strong>and</strong> messages. For information about the affected external<br />

interfaces, see the z/<strong>VM</strong>: Migration Guide.<br />

Removal of the SPTAPE Comm<strong>and</strong><br />

The SPTAPE comm<strong>and</strong> is not supported on z/<strong>VM</strong> V5R1 <strong>and</strong> has been removed.<br />

The SPXTAPE comm<strong>and</strong> offers superior function <strong>and</strong> speed for backup <strong>and</strong><br />

recovery of spool files. Backup tapes made with SPTAPE cannot be restored to a<br />

z/<strong>VM</strong> V5R1 system.<br />
