1. If you specify an existing time zone ID, CP changes the specified time zone
definition to reflect the new direction and offset from UTC.
2. If you change the time zone definition for the zone ID that is currently in effect,
you do not affect the local time on your system. To put the change into effect,
use the SET TIMEZONE command. For more information on the SET
TIMEZONE command, see 1408.
3. You can also define and set time zones in the system configuration file using
the TIMEZONE_DEFINITION and TIMEZONE_BOUNDARY statements. For
more information on updating the system configuration file using these
statements, see the z/VM: CP Planning and Administration book.
Response 1:
When you enter the DEFINE TIMEZONE command, CP responds with information
on the newly defined or changed time zone ID. For example:
define timezone est west 05.00.00
Time zone EST has been defined as 05.00.00 west of UTC.
Ready;
DEFINE TIMEZONE
shows that you have defined or changed the time zone ID EST to be 5 hours west
of UTC.
