DEFINE STORAGE
.size
is the size of the extent you are defining. size is of the form nu, where n is a
decimal number and u is the unit of measure (see Table 7). K is not valid as a
unit of measure with CONFIGuration.
Table 7. Storage Units of Measure
Units suffix
(u)
Maximum allowed
(n)
K - Kilobytes 2096128
M - Megabytes 17592186044416
G - Gigabytes 17179869184
T - Terabytes 16777216
P - Petabytes 16384
E - Exabytes 16
The suffix K is provided for upward compatibility only; all K specifications are
rounded up to the nearest megabyte. The maximum value allowed is 2096128K
(2047M). The K unit of measure is not valid with a CONFIG specification.
-decrement
is subtracted from the extent starting address specified to calculate the actual
extent start address you are defining. decrement is of the form nnnnu, where
nnnn is a one- to four-digit decimal number and u is the unit of measure (see
Table 7). The decrement:
v cannot be larger than the address
v cannot cause overlap or abutment of a previous extent specification.
v its unit of measure must be smaller than the one used for address
decrement helps determine addresses of higher values, especially when they
cross boundaries, for example:
DEF STOR CONFIG 0.64M 2G-1M.2M
This would define the 66 megabytes of storage shown below without you having
to know (or type in) the address that is 1 megabyte below the 2 gigabyte line:
800FFFFF
2 Gigabyte line
7FF00000
3FFFFFF
The response would be:
