VTYPE devtype<br />

locates the DASD type, devtype, in the $DASD$ CONSTS file, <strong>and</strong> returns the<br />

device information to the terminal (if UTILITY VTYPE is issued from the<br />

terminal) or to the program stack (if UTILITY VTYPE is called by an exec).<br />

The information returned is a single line consisting of three fields:<br />

v DASD type, model, or both<br />

v The capacity of the device in cylinders<br />

v The proper representation of the given DASD model to the <strong>CP</strong>FMTXA<br />

program.<br />

If devtype is not an acceptable device type, a nonzero return code is displayed.<br />

The UTILITY VTYPE function is intended primarily for use by installation-related<br />

utilities.<br />

Acceptable values of devtype are:<br />
