to define. FORMAT is the default value. Some products may provide only one
format, that being either a short (HEX) or long (FORMAT) format for their guest
trace data.
The following records are supported for the format option:
v CP trace table records
v CP records of type DATA and IO
v Guest trace records providing a formatting routine that is accessible by
TRACERED.
Other guest trace records will be formatted in hex output.
HEX
stipulates that the hexadecimal (or short) format should be used for the selected
entries. CP trace table data output is one line per trace entry. The mixture of
hexadecimal and interpreted output is determined by the exit routine for guest
trace data. Some products may provide only one format, either a short (HEX) or
a long (FORMAT) format for their guest trace data. You may want to use this
option when you want output to go to a CMS file and limited DASD space
precludes the use of the FORMAT option.
The following records are supported for the format option:
v CP trace table records
v CP records of type DATA and I/O
v Guest trace records providing a formatting routine that is accessible by
TRACERED.
Other Guest trace records will be formatted in hex output.
SELECT
signifies that you want selection criteria to be applied to the trace entries. You
will be prompted for the selection criteria you want. This is the system default.
ALL
indicates that all trace entries from the specified input tape or system trace file
are to be selected for output. You will not be prompted for selection criteria.
LRECL 80
LRECL 132
specifies the record length maximum for the output file. When not specified,
CMS files default to 80 bytes and print files default to 132 bytes.
NOXEDIT
avoids entering an XEDIT session when the CMS keyword is specified on
TRACERED. This option may be useful if the CMS output file created is too
large to XEDIT.
Selection Criteria for the SELECT
If you choose or let the system default to the SELECT option for the TRACERED
command, you receive the following prompt:
ENTER TRACE ENTRY SELECTION CRITERIA, NULL LINE TO END
SELECTION, OR QUIT TO END TRACERED COMMAND
TRACERED
If you enter a null line, no selection criteria are applied. As a result, everything will
be traced.
