Purpose<br />

Usage Notes<br />

Use the H<strong>CP</strong>SADMP EXEC to create a load module of the st<strong>and</strong>-alone dump utility<br />

<strong>and</strong> write the module on a real device. H<strong>CP</strong>SADMP EXEC prompts you for the<br />

information it needs. A complete description of H<strong>CP</strong>SADMP is contained in z/<strong>VM</strong>:<br />

<strong>CP</strong> Planning <strong>and</strong> Administration.<br />

1. The IPL device, the device from which the st<strong>and</strong>-alone dump is loaded, cannot<br />

be the <strong>CP</strong> system residence volume.<br />

2. If the IPL device is a tape, the st<strong>and</strong>-alone dump supports that same tape as a<br />

dump device, the device to which dumps are sent.<br />

3. The following devices can be IPL devices for the st<strong>and</strong>-alone dump utility:<br />

Note: It is suggested that the 3590 be used for central storage sizes of 2Gig or<br />

more due to the 3590’s speed <strong>and</strong> high data capacity.<br />

5. When the H<strong>CP</strong>SADMP EXEC finishes, your virtual machine enters a disabled<br />

wait state.<br />
