PRINT
Use DUMPLOAD to process system abend dumps, stand-alone dumps, and virtual
machine dumps. Enter DUMPLOAD to:
v Load a system abend dump from a reader spool file, a reader system data file, or
a tape into a CMS dump file
v Load a stand-alone dump from a tape into a CMS dump file
DUMPLOAD
v Load a virtual machine dump from a reader system data file into a CMS dump
file.
SPOOL
indicates the dump to be processed is in a reader spool file or reader system
data file. SPOOL is the default.
Before issuing DUMPLOAD, be sure that your reader is at address X’00C’, and
it is spooled for the correct class for the type of dump you want to process.
System abend dumps are class D and virtual machine dumps are class V. Also,
be sure that the dump you want to process is in HOLD NONE status. Use the
ALL option of the QUERY READER command to display the HOLD status of
your reader files as well as other information about dump files in your reader.
Also, the ORDER READER command can be used to place the dump you want
processed as the first file in the reader queue.
Each invocation of DUMPLOAD will process only one dump. DUMPLOAD will
read the first available reader file that is a dump, matches the specified spool
class, and is not in HOLD status. If that dump is of the same release as
DUMPLOAD, DUMPLOAD asks you if you want DUMPLOAD to process it. If
you answer ″NO″, DUMPLOAD will terminate without processing the file. If you
answer ″YES″, DUMPLOAD will process the file and then terminate. In either
case, the reader file that DUMPLOAD read will now be in USER HOLD status
and must be changed to HOLD NONE if you wish DUMPLOAD to process it
again.
If the reader is spooled class *, DUMPLOAD will attempt to find the first
available class D system abend dump. If no available class D file is found,
DUMPLOAD will attempt to find the first available class V virtual machine dump.
TAPE
indicates that the dump to be processed is on a tape. If you specify TAPE, you
are prompted to enter the device address of the tape drive.
