Use TERMINAL TIMEstamp/TIMESTMp to control whether messages <strong>and</strong><br />

comm<strong>and</strong> responses on the virtual machine console are prefixed with the local time<br />

of day.<br />

<strong>CP</strong><br />

OFF<br />

If you specify <strong>CP</strong>, control program messages <strong>and</strong> comm<strong>and</strong> responses on the<br />

console are prefixed with the local time of day. ON causes all virtual machine<br />

<strong>and</strong> <strong>CP</strong> messages to be identifed with time stamps. If you specify OFF,<br />

messages are displayed with no prefix.<br />

1. Time stamps are not produced for some <strong>CP</strong> comm<strong>and</strong> responses (for example,<br />

to QUERY READER ALL) to preserve readability.<br />

2. Messages sent to a secondary user for a primary user with TIMESTAMP <strong>CP</strong> are<br />

not prefixed with a time stamp, for compatibility with earlier releases of <strong>VM</strong>. The<br />

time stamp prefix generation that occurs for a secondary user depends on the<br />

TIMESTAMP settings of both the primary <strong>and</strong> secondary users. The sources of<br />

time stamps are summarized in the table below.<br />
