Use the SET VTOD comm<strong>and</strong> to set a virtual machine’s Time-of-Day (TOD) clock.<br />

By default, the virtual machine’s TOD clock is set <strong>and</strong> synchronized to the system<br />

TOD clock at LOGON. This comm<strong>and</strong>:<br />

v enables a user to set their virtual TOD clock to a different date <strong>and</strong> time,<br />

v enables a user to synchronize the virtual TOD clock of a message processor<br />

user to the issuing user’s virtual TOD clock,<br />

v enables a user to synchronize their virtual TOD clock with the virtual TOD clock<br />

of another user ID,<br />

v resets the user’s virtual TOD clock to the system TOD clock.<br />

Use of this comm<strong>and</strong> requires authorization which is provided by the OPTION<br />

Directory Control Statement. Refer to the individual oper<strong>and</strong> description below <strong>and</strong><br />

the OPTION Directory Control Statement in the z/<strong>VM</strong>: <strong>CP</strong> Planning <strong>and</strong><br />

Administration<br />

1426 z/<strong>VM</strong>: <strong>CP</strong> <strong>Comm<strong>and</strong>s</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>Utilities</strong> <strong>Reference</strong><br />

SYSTEM<br />

the user’s virtual machine TOD clock will be set to the current system value.<br />

This is the default value that is set at LOGON.<br />

The user must be authorized to use this oper<strong>and</strong> via the TODENABLE oper<strong>and</strong><br />

of the OPTION Directory Control Statement. Without authorization, the virtual<br />

machine’s TOD clock will not be changed <strong>and</strong> an error message is presented.<br />

DATE mm/dd/yyyy<br />

DATE yyyy-mm-dd<br />

specifies the new date to be used for this virtual machine’s TOD clock. If the<br />

TIME oper<strong>and</strong> is not specified, the date is changed <strong>and</strong> the time remains<br />

unchanged. The date entered must be in a range from 01/01/1942 to<br />

12/31/2041.<br />

The user must be authorized to use this oper<strong>and</strong> via the TODENABLE oper<strong>and</strong><br />

of the OPTION Directory Control Statement. Without authorization, the virtual<br />

machine’s TOD clock will not be changed <strong>and</strong> an error message is presented.<br />

TIME hh:mm:ss<br />

specifies the new time to be used for this virtual machine’s TOD clock.<br />
