Use SET TIMEBOMB to turn on <strong>and</strong> off the dynamic virtual machine time bomb.<br />

The time bomb is a mechanism for allowing a virtual machine to cause an action to<br />

be performed if it becomes unresponsive.<br />

ON<br />

OFF<br />

ON specifies that the virtual machine time bomb facility is to operate normally.<br />

OFF specifies that the virtual machine time bomb facility is to operate normally<br />

except that the time bomb is disabled.<br />

1. With the time bomb disabled, detection of an unresponsive condition does not<br />

cause the associated action to be performed. In all other respects, the time<br />

bomb facility appears to the virtual machine to be operating normally.<br />

2. It may be convenient to disable the time bomb when debugging a virtual<br />

machine application, where delays caused by the debugging functions may<br />

exceed the time bomb timeout interval.<br />

3. An application establishes a time bomb using DIAGNOSE X'0288'. See z/<strong>VM</strong>:<br />

<strong>CP</strong> Programming Services for more information.<br />
