TYpe 3800<br />

tells <strong>CP</strong> that this is a 3800 printer.<br />

MODel<br />

is the model number of the 3800 that you are defining.<br />

1 is the default.<br />

3 is supported either in <strong>IBM</strong> 3800 Model 1 compatibility mode, defined as a<br />

Model 1, or by using the Advanced Function Printing licensed program,<br />

defined as a Model 3. If you are using an <strong>IBM</strong> 3800 Model 3 as an<br />

advanced function printer, enter AFP YES.<br />

6 is supported either in <strong>IBM</strong> 3800 Model 1 compatibility mode, defined as a<br />

Model 1, or by using the Advanced Function Printing licensed program,<br />

defined as a Model 6. If you are using a <strong>IBM</strong> 3800 Model 6 as an advanced<br />

function printer, enter AFP YES.<br />

8 is supported using the Advanced Function Printing licensed program.<br />

NO_SPOOLing<br />

tells <strong>CP</strong> not to use the unit record device for printing.<br />

SENSed<br />

tells <strong>CP</strong> to use the information returned from a sense ID request to determine<br />

the characteristics of this printer. If omitted, the default is SENSED.<br />

NOTSENSed<br />

tells <strong>CP</strong> not to use the information returned from a sense ID request to<br />

determine the characteristics of this printer.<br />

AFP Yes<br />

AFP No<br />

tells <strong>CP</strong> whether the printer will process files with advanced function printer<br />

(AFP) characteristics, extended attribute buffers (XABs), or X'5A' channel<br />

comm<strong>and</strong> words (CCWs). The default is YES.<br />

CHARS ffff<br />

is the name of a character arrangement table for the separator page to use<br />

after a cold start. For 3800 printers, the default values are:<br />

For the <strong>IBM</strong> 3800 Model 1, CHARS GF10.<br />

For the <strong>IBM</strong> 3800 Model 3 or Model 6, CHARS GF12.<br />

CLasses<br />

are the output spooling classes that this 3800 printer can print. (To change the<br />

spooling classes without having to take the printer offline, use the <strong>CP</strong> START<br />

comm<strong>and</strong>.)<br />

A is the default class.<br />

You can specify CLASSES in one of the following ways:<br />

SET RDEVICE 3800 Printers<br />

v Do not specify the CLASSES oper<strong>and</strong> for unit record devices. Class A is<br />

the default.<br />

v Enter CLASSES c[c...] to list up to 8 output spooling classes. The<br />

spooling class, c, is 1 alphanumeric character. You can specify multiple<br />

classes as CLASSES ABC <strong>and</strong> a single class as CLASSES A.<br />

v Enter CLASSES * to have the 3800 processes files regardless of their<br />

class.<br />
