SET RDEVICE Impact Printers<br />

TYpe IMPact_printer<br />

tells <strong>CP</strong> you are defining one of the impact printers listed above.<br />

NO_SPOOLing<br />

tells <strong>CP</strong> not to use the unit record device for printing.<br />

SENSed<br />

tells <strong>CP</strong> to use the information returned from a sense ID request to determine<br />

the characteristics of this printer. If omitted, the default is SENSED.<br />

NOTSENSed<br />

tells <strong>CP</strong> not to use the information returned from a sense ID request to<br />

determine the characteristics of this printer.<br />

AFP Yes<br />

AFP No<br />

specifies whether the printer is to process files with advanced function printer<br />

(AFP) characteristics, extended attribute buffers (XABs), or X'5A' channel<br />

comm<strong>and</strong> words (CCWs). The default is YES.<br />

CHARS ucsname<br />

For a printer with the UNIVERSAL_CHARSET feature, CHARS ucsname<br />

specifies the 1- to 4-character suffix of the name of the default universal<br />

character set (UCS) buffer image. ucsname must correspond to one of the UCS<br />

images stored in the image library. For example, if you enter:<br />

set rdevice 0003 type 3203 chars an<br />

The image library must contain a member named 3203AN.<br />

Note: If <strong>CP</strong> determines the printer is a 3262, the default for CHARS is P48.<br />

The default for 3203 is PCAN. The default for 3211 is A11.<br />

CLasses<br />

specifies the output spooling classes the printer can print. (To change the<br />

spooling classes without having to take the printer off line, use the <strong>CP</strong> START<br />

comm<strong>and</strong>.)<br />

A is the default class.<br />

classes<br />

are the output spooling classes the printer can print.<br />

You can specify CLASSES in one of the following ways:<br />

v If you omit the CLASSES oper<strong>and</strong> for unit record devices, class A is the<br />

default.<br />

v Enter CLASSES c[c...] to list up to eight output spooling classes. The<br />

spooling class, c, is one alphanumeric character. You can specify multiple<br />

classes as CLASSES ABC <strong>and</strong> a single class as CLASSES A.<br />

v Enter CLASSES * to have the printer process files regardless of class.<br />

DEST dest<br />

specifies the output destination values the printer can print. (To change the<br />

spooling destination values without having to take the printer off line, use the<br />

<strong>CP</strong> START comm<strong>and</strong>.)<br />

You can specify DEST in one of the following ways:<br />

v If you omit the DEST oper<strong>and</strong>, DEST OFF is the default.<br />

v You can specify as many as four destination values by entering four different<br />

DEST oper<strong>and</strong>s, for example:<br />

DEST PRINTER1 DEST PRINTER2 DEST PRINTER3 DEST PRINTER4
