The SET OBSERVER comm<strong>and</strong> has two formats, one for privilege classes A <strong>and</strong> C<br />

<strong>and</strong> another for privilege class G.<br />

Use SET OBSERVER to change which virtual machine receives the line-mode<br />

output produced on your or another virtual machine’s console.<br />

targetid<br />

specifies the virtual machine user ID whose observer status is to be set or<br />

reset. You may specify this oper<strong>and</strong> if you are a Class A or C user. A Class G<br />

user can remove themselves from being the observer by specifying targetid<br />

OFF.<br />

userid<br />

is the observer’s user ID.<br />

RESET<br />

sets the observer user ID to the value specified in the user’s <strong>CP</strong> directory entry.<br />

OFF<br />

removes the user from observation.<br />

* tells <strong>CP</strong> to set the observer user ID for targetid or the comm<strong>and</strong> issuer to the<br />

user ID of the virtual machine issuing the comm<strong>and</strong>.<br />

1. You can use the class G version of the QUERY OBSERVER comm<strong>and</strong> to<br />

display your virtual machine’s observer status. You can use the class A, B, or C<br />

version of the QUERY OBSERVER comm<strong>and</strong> to display the observer status of<br />

other virtual machines. For more information, see “QUERY OBSERVER” on<br />

page 911.<br />
