Use SET IMSG to control the display of certain informational responses. The<br />

affected <strong>CP</strong> comm<strong>and</strong>s are:<br />

v CHANGE<br />

v CLOSE<br />

v DEFINE<br />

v DETACH<br />

v ORDER<br />

v PURGE<br />

v REDEFINE<br />

v SPOOL<br />

v SPXTAPE<br />

v TRANSFER.<br />

Note: The affected response is identified in each comm<strong>and</strong> description.<br />

ON<br />

specifies that the responses are displayed.<br />

OFF<br />

specifies that the responses are not displayed.<br />

IUCV<br />

specifies that informational messages are to be passed to the virtual machine<br />

through IUCV if a connection to the message system service exists. If no IUCV<br />

connection exists, the message is h<strong>and</strong>led as if SET IMSG ON had been<br />

issued.<br />

1. The SET IMSG ON or OFF comm<strong>and</strong> has no effect on the h<strong>and</strong>ling of error<br />

messages set by the SET EMSG comm<strong>and</strong>. The initial setting for IMSG is<br />

installation dependent <strong>and</strong> is defined in the system configuration file.<br />

2. DETACH RDEV <strong>and</strong> DETACH XSTORE will still display informational messages<br />

when IMSG is set OFF. The other DETACH comm<strong>and</strong>s will not display<br />

informational messages when IMSG is set OFF.<br />
