SYSTEM<br />

Use SET DATEFORMAT to set the default date format for comm<strong>and</strong>s which provide<br />

multiple date formats. Default date formats may be set for individual users or the<br />

entire system.<br />

SHOrtdate<br />

specifies that dates will be displayed in mm/dd/yy, mm/dd, or yy/mm/dd format,<br />

where mm is the month, dd is the day of the month, <strong>and</strong> yy is the 2-digit year.<br />

FULldate<br />

specifies that dates will be displayed in mm/dd/yyyy or yyyy/mm/dd format,<br />

where mm is the month, dd is the day of the month, <strong>and</strong> yyyy is the 4-digit year.<br />

ISOdate<br />

specifies that dates will be displayed in yyyy-mm-dd format, where yyyy is the<br />

4-digit year, mm is the month, <strong>and</strong> dd is the day of the month.<br />

SYSdefault<br />

specifies that the default date format for this user will be set to the system-wide<br />

default.<br />

USER<br />

specifies that the default date format is being set for the user.<br />

SYSTEM<br />

specifies that the default date format is being set for the entire system.<br />

1. If SET DATEFORMAT is not specified for an individual user <strong>and</strong> there is no<br />

DATEFORMAT statement in the user’s directory entry, the default date format<br />

for that user is the system-wide default.<br />

2. SYSDEFAULT is not valid with SYSTEM.<br />

SET DATEFORMAT<br />

3. If the default date format for a user is set to (or defaults to) the system-wide<br />

default date format, <strong>and</strong> the system-wide default is changed, the user continues<br />

to see the old system-wide default as the user default until the user either logs<br />

off <strong>and</strong> logs back on or issues SET DATEFORMAT SYSDEFAULT to switch to<br />

the new system-wide default.<br />
