OFF comm<strong>and</strong>. This method causes <strong>CP</strong> to perform the overhead once at the<br />

beginning <strong>and</strong> once at the end, rather than before <strong>and</strong> after each individual<br />

comm<strong>and</strong>.<br />

3. There is only one dynamic I/O comm<strong>and</strong> that you cannot issue while in<br />

configuration mode: the SET DYNAMIC_I/O OFF comm<strong>and</strong>. You must issue<br />

SET DYNAMIC_I/O OFF as an individual comm<strong>and</strong>. For more information about<br />

the SET DYNAMIC_I/O comm<strong>and</strong>, see page 1247.<br />

4. When you use the dynamic I/O comm<strong>and</strong>s, you are changing the I/O<br />

configuration as the software (<strong>CP</strong>) underst<strong>and</strong>s it. You must also change the I/O<br />

configuration as the hardware underst<strong>and</strong>s it. To do so, you must update the<br />

IO<strong>CP</strong> source file <strong>and</strong> issue the SET IOCDS_ACTIVE comm<strong>and</strong> (page 1258).<br />

5. If you are in configuration mode <strong>and</strong> you issue a dynamic I/O comm<strong>and</strong> that<br />

does not complete successfully, <strong>CP</strong> automatically takes you out of configuration<br />

mode.<br />

6. If you are in configuration mode <strong>and</strong> any of the following occur:<br />

v The system abends,<br />

v The system loses power,<br />

v You issue a SHUTDOWN REIPL comm<strong>and</strong>,<br />

v You issue a CLEAR RESET from the hardware console, or<br />

v You issue a LOAD CLEAR from the hardware console.<br />

<strong>CP</strong> takes you out of configuration mode before shutting down the system.<br />

7. To display whether the processor is currently in configuration mode, use the<br />

QUERY CONFIGMODE comm<strong>and</strong> (page 717).<br />

Response 1:<br />

To turn configuration mode on, enter the following SET CONFIGMODE comm<strong>and</strong>:<br />

set configmode on<br />

System is now in configuration mode<br />

Ready;<br />

If configuration mode is on when you issue the SET CONFIGMODE ON comm<strong>and</strong>,<br />

you see the following response:<br />

Response 2:<br />

To turn configuration mode off, enter the following SET CONFIGMODE comm<strong>and</strong>:<br />

System is no longer in configuration mode<br />

If configuration mode is off when you issue the SET CONFIGMODE OFF comm<strong>and</strong>,<br />

you see the following response:<br />
