Use REDEFINE to change the virtual device number of any existing virtual device in<br />

your configuration.<br />

vdev1<br />

is the virtual device number of an existing virtual device.<br />

vdev2<br />

is the new virtual device number.<br />

1. Virtual paging subsystem devices should not be redefined in order to protect the<br />

integrity of the user’s virtual paging subsystem.<br />

2. When you use the REDEFINE comm<strong>and</strong> to alter the configuration of your virtual<br />

machine, the changes are temporary <strong>and</strong> are only in effect for the current<br />

session.<br />

3. The virtual device numbers you specify can be no higher than FFFF.<br />

4. Informational responses are sent to your display to confirm that the<br />

configuration change you requested has taken place. These responses do not<br />

appear if you have issued the SET IMSG OFF comm<strong>and</strong>.<br />

5. If you change the virtual device number of your console while spooling your<br />

console, the spool file device number will also change.<br />

6. If the existing virtual device is part of a Concurrent Copy (CONCOPY) session<br />

for your virtual machine, the CONCOPY session is terminated in the storage<br />

control associated with the device.<br />
