Privilege Class: G<br />

Use QUERY (virtual device) to display the status of devices accessible to your<br />

virtual machine. These devices may be located at a specific virtual device number<br />

or located in a range of virtual device numbers.<br />

vdev<br />

vdev1-vdev2<br />

identifies the device or range of virtual device numbers for devices whose<br />

status is to be displayed.<br />

DETAILS<br />

displays additional information for the specified virtual device or range of<br />

devices.<br />

1. The DETAILS option is meaningful only for dedicated DASDs, or minidisk<br />

DASDs, on a cache subsystem. The responses for devices other than DASD, if<br />

specified, remain the same.<br />

For devices not listed below, see the QUERY (individual device type) comm<strong>and</strong><br />

description for their response formats.<br />

DETAILS<br />

Responses you receive depend on the type of device located at the device number<br />

you specify. These responses are included in the QUERY VIRTUAL comm<strong>and</strong>s for<br />

those devices.<br />

You receive this response if the device is one of the following:<br />

v 3705 Communications Controller<br />

v A Mass Storage Controller<br />

v A virtual 270x line<br />

v Message Device<br />

v A miscellaneous device (one not explicitly described in the QUERY VIRTUAL<br />

family of comm<strong>and</strong>s).<br />

type vdev {ON DEV rdev } [SUBCHANNEL = vsub]<br />

{ON NIC vdev AS UNIT unit}<br />

type<br />

identifies the virtual device type; it can be any of the following:<br />
