If <strong>CP</strong> cannot find a tape drive of the type you specified, you see a response like<br />

In this response, offline may be replaced with active, attached, BOXED, free,<br />

If you enter a QUERY TAPES, QUERY TAPES ACTIVE, QUERY TAPES ALL, or<br />

QUERY TAPES ATTACH comm<strong>and</strong>, <strong>and</strong> the tape drive was previously attached<br />

with the MULTIUSER option of the <strong>CP</strong> ATTACH comm<strong>and</strong> or the MULTIUSER<br />

oper<strong>and</strong> of the DEDICATE directory control statement, you see a response like this:<br />

<strong>and</strong> USER2 at virtual device address 0181. MULTIUSER indicates that the tape<br />

drive is shared by both users, <strong>and</strong> NOASSIGN states that the users must manage<br />

the assignment of the tape drive by using assign <strong>and</strong> unassign I/O.<br />
