The proposal for the Warming Huts Pavilion is juts not a celebration of winter coming in
the trails but also a cultural message to the people about the current state of our mother
Earth. The Melting Huts acts a reflection of our gigantic glaciers with unique picturesque
topography melting ,an indication to the humanity that its time to awake now.
The proposal humbly explores design at the intersection of art ,environment and architecture
honouring a multi-disciplinary approach and thereby reinterpreting the program
and iconography within a contemporary context. The outcome is a sculptural intervention,
which serves as a flexible recreational space, performance space, a cultural hub and a
new icon for the re intrepreting the Global warming effect happening all ober the world.
The Hut consists of indoor, outdoor and transitional public spaces, embedded into the
landscape.
The genesis of the pavilion design is based on recyclable waste cans which are then
bouned to thick plastic sheets in order to create the iceberg effect with pointed ice peaks
hanging from above. The deployable pavilion is a hybrid construct encouraging “out of
the box” recreational environment. The main element of the pavilion are the ice bergs
which also references gigantic glaciers of the region by using metaphor and literally
building the pavilion. The construction philosophy allows for a very simple understanding
of a modular system that could be easily decoded and put into practice. The individual circular
cans are held by sub secondary framework bounded to a main permanent framework
on the skid which are proliferated across the dynamic surface typology to create an
unconstrained volume within the pavilion allowing maximum flexibility for recreational
space, performance space, and cultural spaces. The Huts acts as a natura landscape
space for skaters provding them visual expression of glaciers. The periphery including the
skin could be used for exhibition, retail events and display of products.
