NATIONAL REPORT - AUSTRIAxxGreat Racingin AustriaOn September 2-4, 2022, the eight 5.5 Metrestook part in the 3rd Salzkammergut Prize inthe UYC-Traunsee on Lake Traunsee, withwonderful weather and 6-8 knots of wind.The first three races were sailed on 2September. A certain dominance of our welcome guest, GER 84(Wolfi Richter, Beata Kallkowski and Oliver Weiss), was alreadynoticeable, which manifested itself on the second day of theevent, with light winds and ended in a clear victory for their team.Stephen Holzinger reports on the 2022Salzkammergut Prize and looks forward to 2023AUT 26 (Benjamin Stillfried, Christian Sterrer and MaxStillfried) followed in second place with AUT 6 (MartinBürger, Georg Praxmarer and Jürgen Lappi) in third. At theSalzkammergut Prize, the overall winner from Modern, Evolutionand Classic is determined using the yardstick method, which isunique for the 5.5 Metre class.Unfortunately, AUT 25, which was leading in a clear place,had to give up after three races due to a break in the forestay.The debut of AUT 66 (former SWE 66) was marked by littlesuccess due to too many technical problems and too little practice.This year the 4th Salzkammergut Prize will take place on 23-25 June, once again hosted by the UYC-Traunsee in Gmunden.The club is looking forward to numerous participants and beautifulsailing days in probably the most beautiful scenery in the Alps.Photos by Martin Eisl except top by Radovan DuschekAPRIL 2023 • fivepointfive • 37
