Thus,1290.4 square millimeters = 1290.4 ÷ 645.2 = 2 square inches.To convert volume units between the English and metric or SI systems, use the relationshipsgiven in Table 5.14. For example, to convert cubic inches into cubic centimeters,the table shows that we multiply the number of cubic inches by a factor of16.38716. Thus, for instance, to convert two cubic inches into cubic centimeters:2 cubic inches = 2 × 16.38716 = 32.77432 cubic centimetersSimilarly, to convert cubic centimeters into cubic inches we use the reverse operation;that is, we divide the cubic inches by a factor of 16.38716. Thus,32.77432 cubic centimeters = 32.77432 ÷ 16.38716 = 2 cubic inches.To convert weight and mass units between the English and metric or SI systems,use the relationships given in Table 5.15.
