finish required. Precision microscopes are used to measure the indentations; these

usually have a magnification of around ×500 and measure to an accuracy of ±0.5

5. VERIFICATION OF SOFTWARE FOR TEST EQUIPMENT

Identify and define basic steps to ensure that

the software for test equipment adequately

and correctly performs its intended

functions by safeguarding, functional checks,

comparison of test results and identification

of attributes and parameters. (Knowledge)

Part III.D.5

Verification of software for test equipment is a process for determining whether

the software for these test equipment fulfill the requirements, purpose, and accuracy

of the test intended.

Software Verification Objectives

• Software verification determines that the software performs its

intended functions correctly.

• Ensure that the software performs no unintended functions.

• Measure and assess the quality and reliability of software.

• As a systems engineering discipline, software verification also

assesses, analyzes, and tests the software on:

– How it interfaces with systems elements

– How it influences performance

– How it reacts to stimuli from system elements

Basic principles for software testing:

• Define the expected output or result, including the attributes and

parameters.

• Define how the software should function to get the results.

• Compare test results with real results to make sure of the consistency

and accuracy of the software

• Include test cases for invalid or unexpected conditions.
