Inspector Qualifications

Basic requirements for inspection personnel include (Raz 1992):

1. The ability to perform the relevant measurements

2. Understanding of product specifications to the point of being capable

of determining product quality

3. Basic mathematical skills for recording and analyzing data

4. Basic understanding of statistical concepts needed for sampling

inspection and process characterization

5. Knowledge of measurements and measurement technology

6. Understanding of the company’s inspection policies, inspection

procedure, products, materials, and processes

Inspector Training

Training refers to the formal procedures used to improve job-related capability.

Programs that are designed for inspection personnel training should address

three major aspects:
