Hello everyone (especially class of 2023)! The 2023 edition of the AMSA Internship Guide is now available to read! This is the AMSA guide for the 2024 clinical year.

This guide could not have been possible without the contribution of medical students, hospital management teams, interns, AMA and many other people volunteering their time to update the information. For example, we have added eight new health networks across all states and territories to the internship guide.

Congratulations on your Intern placement at hospitals in the Northern Territory! An<br />

interesting, exciting and challenging year lies ahead of you that will lay the<br />

foundations for whichever branch of medicine that you choose to follow.<br />

AMA NT has a close association with the NT doctors-in-training and would like to<br />

encourage your interest and membership. AMA NT has regular contact with the NT<br />

Health Minister and Department of Health Executives. This allows your concerns to<br />

be raised directly with the relevant health authorities to affect a solution.<br />

Membership of AMA NT also provides complimentary membership to the<br />

Australian Salaried Medical Officers’ Federation NT Branch (ASMOF NT). ASMOF NT<br />

is the union arm of the profession and negotiations your enterprise agreement<br />

which includes your salary, allowances and conditions. ASMOF NT also provides<br />

industrial services such as rostering and payroll issues and access to teaching to<br />

name a few.<br />

AMA NT has a proud history of advocacy for health issues particularly those that<br />

affect indigenous Territorians.<br />

Your time in the Territory should also allow you to explore the natural wonders such<br />

as Kakadu, Nitmiluk (Katherine Gorge) and Uluru. In addition to thee adjacent<br />

natural wonders of far Northern Western Australia and the near south east Asian<br />

region.<br />
