The 2023 edition of the AMSA Internship Guide is now available to read! This is the AMSA guide for the 2024 clinical year. This guide could not have been possible without the contribution of medical students, hospital management teams, interns, AMA and many other people volunteering their time to update the information. For example, we have added eight new health networks across all states and territories to the internship guide. Good luck to the class of 2023! We hope that the information within this guide can be beneficial for you during your internship applications. If you have any queries or feedback about the guide, please do not hesitate to email pdo@amsa.org.au.

ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS
This Internship Guide was created entirely by medical students who have volunteered their
time to ensure it is a centralised source of information available to all our final year medical
students. I would like to thank my publications subcommittee for their work in helping
contacting relevant groups, collating information and designing this guide.
Also, thank you to AMSA Rural Health and AMSA International Network (ISN) representative
groups for working with us to collate up-to-date information for our rural and international
students respectively.
I would also like to give my thanks to the AMA states presidents who have provided us with
invaluable insight into the services and supports AMA provides in each state. Also, thank you to
the AMA teams who have helped coordinate in sourcing this information.
To the current interns who have provided their reflections on their experience despite their
extremely busy schedules, many thanks for your help.
A massive thank you is also owed to the JMO managers and hospital contacts who have
provided us with information about their hospitals networks, and also to the Doctors in Training
Committees who allowed us to include the results of their Hospital Health Check surveys in this
Internship Guide.
Finally, I must acknowledge that this guide would not be possible if it weren’t for the previous
Publications and Design Officers before me and the contributors of previous guides, from which
this guide is built.
To our readers, I hope that this guide may be of assistance to you as you enter the next stage
of your careers as doctors. Your experiences throughout medical school, the countless hours of
study and clinical placements, and your perseverance will undoubtedly propel you through
your internship. We wish you the best of luck in the future!
Any feedback or queries about the guide, please do not hesitate to email pdo@amsa.org.au
Kind regards,
Shani
