Visa Requires “English competency”<br />

You are a citizen of and hold a valid passport issued by the United Kingdom,<br />

the United States of America, Canada, New Zealand or the Republic of Ireland,<br />

with your application; or you have obtained an English language test results.<br />

You can get extra points if you achieve a high score on the language tests.<br />

AHPRA English<br />

Requirements<br />

English language proficiency requirements: https://bit.ly/37GQVIM. There are a lot<br />

of exceptions/exemptions, so check which category you fall into. Students should<br />

take English tests as soon as possible. To summarise, you need to:<br />

1. Have completed primary, secondary and tertiary education in a recognised<br />

country (Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Republic of Ireland, South Africa,<br />

United Kingdom, or United States of America); or<br />

2. Completed 2 years of secondary + tertiary education in a recognised country;<br />

or<br />

3. Completed 6 years of continuous study in a recognised country; or<br />

4. Received a minimum score in an English proficiency exam:<br />

With the exam having been completed within the last 2 years or<br />

More than two years before the date you lodge your application for<br />

registration if, in the period since the test result was obtained, you:<br />

Have been continuously enrolled in a Board-approved program of study<br />

(which commenced within 12 months of the date of the test) and<br />

undertook subjects in each semester, with no break from study apart from<br />

the education provider’s scheduled holidays<br />

Lodge your application for registration within 12 months of completing the<br />

Board approved program of study (i.e. med school in Australia)
