ELIGIBILITY<br />

SOUTH AUSTRALIA<br />

The rural intern pathway is a strength-based process introduced in South<br />

Australia in 2018 to select applicants who are suitable for, and have a preference<br />

towards working in a rural location. All applicants who meet the intern application<br />

eligibility criteria and preference a Country Health SA site as their first preference<br />

will be included in the selection process. Therefore, applications for this pathway<br />

are included in the standard SA internship application. The only difference is that<br />

they are allocated first.<br />

Flinders and Upper North LHN: based at Port Augusta Hospital and Regional<br />

Health Service and Whyalla Hospital and Health Service<br />

Limestone Coast LHN: predominantly based at Mount Gambier and Districts<br />

Health Service<br />

Riverland Mallee Coorong LHN: Hospital based at Riverland General Hospital<br />

located in Berri<br />

*Barossa Hills Fleurieu LHN: located across Mount Barker, Gawler and Victor<br />

Harbour, Strathalbyn, Kingscote, Mount Pleasant, Angaston, Tanunda,<br />

Gumeracha, Eudunda and Kapunda.<br />

*Eyre and Far North LHN located across Ceduna, Cleve, Cowell, Coober Pedy,<br />

Cummins, Elliston, Kimba, Port Lincoln, Streaky Bay, Tumby Bay and Wudinna<br />

* Subject to accreditation in late <strong>2023</strong><br />

Applications for the Rural Intern Pathways are included in the standard South<br />

Australian application for internship.<br />

Preference rural site as FIRST preference. All applicants must preference all<br />

rural networks and the 3 metropolitan health networks<br />

Answer additional questions within the standard process (e.g. CV, referees and<br />

SAQs)<br />

The rural stream will then host interviews after applicants are reviewed by a<br />

selection panel.<br />
