For example, we have added eight new health networks across all states and territories to the internship guide. Good luck to the class of 2023! BASIC INFORMATION

Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital (or as the locals say, “Charlies”) is located on a large
campus adjacent to Kings Park in Nedlands, mid-way between the city, beach and
Fremantle. In addition to SCGH, a 650-bed tertiary hospital that employs over 400
junior medical staff, the Nedlands campus contains the new Perth Children’s
Hospital (PCH), and university research and teaching institutes, making it a vibrant
centre for medical and healthcare related research and education.
Osborne Park Hospital is a short distance north, now integrated to be run under
the same umbrella as SCGH. Additional training sites include the well regarded
JHC Hospital 30 minutes north of the city, just off the freeway and train line,
HPH, next door and nearby Graylands, a major psychiatric hospital for Perth.
Rural placements are available from the north to the south of the State.
Charlies has a number of state services including the Sarcoma, Epilepsy, Cancer,
Cystic Fibrosis, Neurosurgical and 24-hour, stroke service as well as the state
Neurological Intervention and Imaging Service of Western Australia Unit.
“Charlies” and associated sites offer all specialties including paediatrics and
O&G, which will lead to further terms in those disciplines for RMOs.
The education and support program offered by the Medical Education Unit
fosters interns professional and career development, no matter what direction
you wish to take. We have strengths in medical, surgical and critical care
