in the Medical Education Team, in Education & Learning support an optimum<br />

learning environment for all Junior Medical Staff. Affiliated with the University of<br />

Melbourne, St. Vincent’s Hospital has Professorial Chairs in Medicine and Surgery,<br />

Dermatology, Pathology, Neurosciences and Drug & Alcohol Studies. There is an<br />

associated Institute of Medical Research and Microsurgery Research Unit. St.<br />

Vincent’s also provides a community based adult psychiatric service in the Inner<br />

Urban and Eastern Section of Melbourne.<br />

St Vincent’s Hospital offers a three day orientation program for the new Intern<br />

cohort each year. This orientation program is designed to make individuals feel<br />

welcomed and safe at our Health Service through lectures, skills workshops and<br />

a shadow shift with an outgoing Intern. St Vincent’s Hospital provides a robust<br />

Education Calendar incorporating practical, theoretical and simulation-based<br />

learning throughout the year in accordance with the Australian Curriculum<br />

Framework for Junior Doctors<br />

St. Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne is renowned for its excellent surgical &<br />

physician training programs. We are particularly proud of our physician’s exam<br />

pass rates which on average is 90-100%, well above the 55-60% Australian<br />

average<br />

St Vincent’s Hospital includes a state-of- the-art Education centre and a clinical<br />

skills laboratory and also employs a dedicated Medical Education Officer whose<br />

sole responsibility is facilitating ongoing education of Junior Doctors<br />
