Generalist Program)<br />

The M2M Program provides the opportunity for career progression from<br />

undergraduate to GP Rural Generalist or specialist registrar and a strong<br />

foundation for a rural medical career.<br />

REASONS TO APPLY<br />

<br />

Medical graduates are eligible to apply through the Victorian Rural Preferential<br />

Allocation process and selection is based on merit. Students interested in the<br />

program can apply through the PMCV Allocation and Placement Service website<br />

(register for the Victorian Intern Match and indicate that you wish to be part of the<br />

Victorian Rural Preferential Allocation round). Interns will:<br />

Maximise their exposure to generalist medicine<br />

Experience high levels of hands-on clinical experience & training<br />

Experience medicine in a variety of settings – ambulatory, hospital and<br />

residential care<br />

Have core rotations of 10 weeks in surgery, medicine and emergency medicine<br />

in the Hume region; be the patient’s first contact and follow the patient journey<br />

Have the opportunity to work in rurally based procedural general practice and<br />

small rural teaching services for 20 weeks<br />

Participate in parallel consulting<br />

Access a high-quality education program that includes grand rounds, clinical<br />

review meetings, medical meetings geriatric & paediatric education sessions<br />

and skills workshops<br />

Be provided with opportunities for procedural based career pathways at PGY 2,<br />

3 level<br />

Be supported in their career aspirations.<br />

Have unprecedented access to working with local GPs and a wide variety of<br />

visiting medical specialists including: General Surgery, Anaesthetics, Obstetrics<br />

and Gynaecology, Paediatrics, Orthopaedic Surgery, Geriatrics, Urology and<br />

Ophthalmology<br />

Will actively participate in procedural medicine.<br />

Unrivalled access to teaching facilities and educational resources<br />

Designed to develop your medical independence<br />

Assure the clinical skills required for your medical career<br />
