BASIC INFORMATION<br />

The Alfred is a tertiary referral centre affiliated with Monash University Faculty of<br />

Medicine, and it is part of Alfred Health, which includes Caulfield Hospital and<br />

Sandringham Hospital. The hospital has over 398 adult inpatient beds, including 45<br />

intensive care beds. It receives over 300,000 inpatient visits and more than 94,983<br />

emergency department attendances annually. The Baker Medical Research<br />

Institute has strong links to The Alfred.<br />

REASONS TO APPLY<br />

The Alfred Health provides Junior Medical Staff with the clinical experience,<br />

mentoring, education, training, and support needed to enhance their chosen<br />

medical career. The hospital has a reputation for service, training, and research. It<br />

offers renowned statewide services, such as a Trauma Centre with a helipad,<br />

Hyperbaric Medicine Service, Adult Cystic Fibrosis Unit, Heart Lung Transplant<br />

Service, Adult Burns Service, and an HIV/AIDS Service. Senior medical staff here are<br />

approachable and eager to assist. A formal mentoring program is also offered to<br />

JMOs and RMOs.<br />
