VIC RURAL TRAINING
The Victorian Rural Generalist Program (VRGP) is a state-wide end-to-end Rural
Generalist training program that allows the rural generalist workforce to train,
work and live in rural and regional Victoria. Trainees will gain access to training
positions across a variety of clinical settings, both hospital-based and communitybased,
to provide a rich clinical training experience that demonstrates a variety of
rural generalist career options in Victoria.

Community Internship Program
Grampians region - Grampians Rural Community Internship Program
Loddon-Mallee - Echuca Rural Community Intern Training Program
Hume Region - Murray to the Mountains (M2M) intern training program
Gippsland Region - Rural Generalist Internship Gippsland

There are also a number of other health services in rural and regional Victoria that
employ interns.
Last year PMCV introduced some changes to the Victorian Intern Match. Medical
graduates are eligible to apply through the Victorian Rural Preferential Allocation
process and selection is based on merit. The Victorian Rural Preferential Allocation
match is a parallel first-round match for students with a strong rural interest. All
rural health services submit internship positions into the match, and Victorian
Rural Generalist Program (VRGP) places will only be available through the VRPA.
Students successful in obtaining a Victorian Rural Generalist intern position are
generally allocated to the training region for 12 months. Students interested in the
program can apply through the PMCV Allocation and Placement Service website
(register for the Victorian Intern Match and indicate that you wish to be part of the
Victorian Rural Preferential Allocation round).
