This guide could not have been possible without the contribution of medical students, hospital management teams, interns, AMA and many other people volunteering their time to update the information. BASIC INFORMATION<br />

The Launceston General Hospital (LGH) is a 360-bed regional hospital providing<br />

most specialties. LGH is accredited teaching hospital in partnership with the<br />

Launceston Clinical School of Medicine and University of Tasmania. There is a<br />

supportive environment and an active teaching and learning culture is valued and<br />

promoted.<br />

Medical Education and JMO Support<br />

The Medical Education Advisor (MEA) supports both medical school and intern<br />

and resident learning programs. They enhance the transition from<br />

undergraduate to graduate. With PMCT support, the MEA promotes<br />

educational activities for all doctors, encouraging them to be more effective<br />

teachers, supervisors and mentors. Regular assessment and feedback are also<br />

provided. The MEA and Director of Clinical Training (DCT) together with a<br />

Clinical Medical Educator to arrange weekly tutorial experiences pertinent to<br />

the ongoing training of junior doctors using the Australian Curriculum<br />

Framework.<br />
