The 2023 edition of the AMSA Internship Guide is now available to read! This is the AMSA guide for the 2024 clinical year. This guide could not have been possible without the contribution of medical students, hospital management teams, interns, AMA and many other people volunteering their time to update the information. For example, we have added eight new health networks across all states and territories to the internship guide. Good luck to the class of 2023! We hope that the information within this guide can be beneficial for you during your internship applications. If you have any queries or feedback about the guide, please do not hesitate to email pdo@amsa.org.au.

NETWORK
REASONS TO APPLY

SALHN offers opportunities to practise medicine across a broad range of specialties
in a supportive environment. The network has strong leadership with a focus on
wellbeing underpinned by mentoring and debriefing sessions, and there are
mechanisms in place to provide regular feedback to divisions including via a junior
medical advisory committee.
The medical education team provides comprehensive and dynamic training in
their weekly intern tutorial and simulation programs, clinical skills workshops and
five-day orientation program. Training is also provided on the wards and within
departments.
Additionally, SALHN provides education, information, and support for interns and
general trainees who are interested in a General Practice career pathway.
QUOTES FROM INTERN

“SAHLN was an easy top choice as it provides a conducive learning environment
for staff while ensuring our well-being is being cared for. My introduction to
medical practice at SALHN has been well supported, well organised and quite
enjoyable whilst remaining appropriately challenging and intellectually
stimulating. We had a thorough orientation prior to initiating our clinical work and
continue to have ongoing regular teaching throughout the year.”
